First of all for my favorite spices, the top of the line products and informative and wonderful staff may I introduce the Spice House. Visit in Milwaukee Wisconsin, Evanston or Chicago Illinois.
How about some great Restaurants in the Milwaukee area:
I love, love, love this restaurant. Chef Feker is an amazing chef. Please go into “Pot Luck” on this website for a special story regarding Chef Feker.
At a recent visit for lunch I had : ravioli ripieni con granchi e gamberi homemade ravioli stuffed with Maryland crab and tossed with gulf shrimp, crispy leeks and cherry tomatoes in a creamy ramp sauce. OMG such delicate flavors made for a wonderful lunch to celebrate 15 years with Dan Glaser CPA. Dan had lasagna bolognese this Italian tradition is layered with lasagna pasta, shredded black angus beef, fresh Wisconsin cheese and a roasted mushroom bechamel sauce, topped with IL MITO’s famous tomato sauce and parmesan cheese. The portion size was perfect for lunch and a take home bag. Dan enjoyed the homemade taste. My other “boss” Joel had gnocchi con coniglio potato gnocchi tossed with grilled rabbit, asparagus and peas in a Tuscan-style fennel cream sauce.Joel said it was light and flavorful.
I recommend Il Mito for lunch or dinner. My husband Don purchased a private cooking lesson with Chef Feker which I am in the process now setting up the class. I will keep you all informed on my experience.
Great food and staff…say HI to Betty the owner
North Star Bistro
I was able to make reservations on-line. We walked in and there were people waiting but they took us immediately. The Bistro was at least 85% full. We were seated in a cozy booth. The waitress was there to take our drink order. The drinks were served quickly and she took our order. She knew all the specials and answered our questions with knowledge of the menu.
This is what I had and it was delicious. The veal was tender and the risotto was cooked perfectly.
Braised free range veal, caramelized onion and mushroom risotto. Arugula, parmesan and truffle salad. 19.95 GLUTEN FREE
My husband had one of the specials which was Pecan, Coconut Shrimp and I believe it was 14.95. He must of had at least 10 large encrusted succulent shrimp.
